Beth Bussey’s Breakfast Mix
1 box bran cereal such as Kellogg’s All-Bran or General Mill’s Fiber One or Kellogg’s Bran Buds or Nabisco’s 100% Bran
2 cups oatmeal (old fashioned, raw)
2 cups wheat germ
2-4 cups soy protein isolate powder (plain or vanilla unsweetened) – obtain from health food store or order from Revival Soy, 1-888-87 REVIVAL or www.revivalsoy.com (more expensive)
1 cup chopped walnuts
⅓ - 1 cup flaxseed (whole or ground) – obtain from health food store or supermarket

Optional ingredients:
4 tsp fructooligosaccharide (FOS, Nutraflora) powder – obtain from health food store or order from www.nutraflora.com
1 cup raisins and/or craisins
1 cup chopped dates


Serve ½ - 1 cup of mixture daily, with:

Fresh fruit (sliced banana, kiwi, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, etc.) or unsweetened frozen fruit (e.g., frozen blueberries are great)
Soy milk (vanilla or plain) or fat-free or 1% cow’s milk
Non-fat or low-fat yogurt

Single Serving:
½ cup bran cereal
2 Tbsp oatmeal
2 Tbsp wheat germ
⅓ to 1 package (1 tsp to 1 Tbsp) soy protein powder
1 Tbsp chopped walnuts
1 tsp to 1 Tbsp flaxseed

Optional ingredients:
¼ tsp FOS powder
1 Tbsp raisins and/or craisins
1 Tbsp chopped dates
